"Humans are, after all, made of matter.
All matter stay in space and ride on the flow of time.
Then, what kinds of objects will continue to exist along with other matter (humans) and space in the distant future?
Brilliant objects, beautiful objects, artistic objects, enterprising and progressive objects, objects of a form that was never seen before, objects of an unprecedented technology, objects of an unprecedented function, or anything that has any properties?
Objects that have survived for a long time among humans have one thing in common.
They are relatively inconspicuous.
Of all the values in the world, one that has stayed with humans to date is “humbleness.”
It is both the most difficult value to achieve and the most common value. Objects that stay with people are those that are unobtrusive, those people can keep for a long time, and those far from splendor but not shabby. They are those that hardly stand out among other objects but that do not lose their beauty either. When objects are made by hand, this simplicity is a key to their value. These objects then become “craftwork” when usability is added to them.
I hope to make a living making such simple and useful craftworks."
